Description
This stamp celebrates the Horse (Equus caballus), more precisely the Arabian thoroughbred, jewel of equine heritage and symbol of nobility, courage and elegance in Tunisia.
The horse, or “El Kheil” (الخيل), occupies a sacred place in the history of Tunisia, land of meeting between the robust Barbe (originally from the Maghreb) and the prestigious Thoroughbred Arabian. From Carthaginian Antiquity to the time of the bey, the horse was the driving force behind the country's conquests, trade and cultural influence.
