Description
This stamp highlights Tozeur as a major place of Tunisian Saharan heritage, highlighting the close relationship between architecture, oasis environment and urban history. The illustration combines ramparts and a traditional religious construction with the slender presence of palm trees, major symbols of the oasis and human control of an arid environment. The whole evokes the medina of Tozeur and its characteristic brick architecture, an expression of ancient know-how perfectly adapted to the climatic constraints of southern Tunisia. Through this representation, the stamp underlines the role of Tozeur as a historical crossroads between the desert, trans-Saharan trade and spiritual life, while affirming the cultural and identity value of the Saharan regions in national construction. It is also part of an approach to promoting heritage and internal tourism, recalling that the oasis is not only a natural space, but a cultural landscape shaped by centuries of civilization, resilience and human ingenuity.
