Description
The Ribat of Sousse (often called Ksar El Ribat) is an emblematic monument of Tunisia, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1988. Built at the end of the 8th century and completed in its current form in 821, it served as both a monastery for monk-soldiers and a coastal fortress to protect the city against maritime attacks.
