Description
This program is dedicated to the “Sabil”, a traditional public fountain often built by wealthy donors to offer water to passers-by. The architecture presented is distinguished by its dome covered with green glazed tiles and its semi-circular arcade, typical of medieval charitable institutions in Tunisia. The scene, showing a child and his donkey coming to drink there, recalls the social and vital role of these buildings in ancient town planning. This stamp celebrates piety and social solidarity, while highlighting the beauty of structures intended for community management of water, a precious and sacred resource.
