Description
The Serin cini, known as the Samaris, is represented here on an ocher brown background reminiscent of the wooded areas and orchards that it favors. Smaller than the canary, of which it is its wild cousin, it is recognizable by its greenish-yellow plumage streaked with brown and its short, robust beak. The artist chose to represent it with its beak half open, evoking its rapid and crystalline song which enlivens Tunisian gardens from the start of spring. This stamp highlights the biodiversity of the parks and agricultural areas of the Regency, where this small bird plays an essential ecological role.
