Description
This stamp illustrates the Belle-Dame, one of the most cosmopolitan butterflies and a great migratory which crosses the Sahara every year to reach Tunisia. The illustration depicts the life cycle of the insect: we see a thorny caterpillar on a stem, the hanging chrysalis and the adult butterfly with wings spotted with orange, black and white. This program celebrates the resilience and constant renewal of Tunisian biodiversity, while highlighting the role of ecological crossroads that the country plays for migratory species between Europe and Africa.
