Description
The Swallowtail, or Great Hairstreak, is represented here in all its majesty on an azure blue background. This butterfly, one of the largest and most colorful of the Regency, is recognizable by its bright yellow wings ribbed with black and its small red eyespots at the base of the hind wings. The stamp also depicts a green caterpillar ringed with black and orange on a host plant (often wild fennel). This program highlights the splendor of Mediterranean gardens and raises awareness of the protection of pollinating insects, essential to the balance of Tunisian orchards and ecosystems.
